In my later years (yes, mid-30’s), my loyalty to brands has begun to strengthen for different reasons than I ever would have that. I look for quality fabrics, easy washing instructions and return policy over fashion and glam.

Yes, I’ve become that person and I’m not mad about it.

When I buy any piece of clothing now, my hope is that I’ll have it for a few years and not have to continuously buy the same pieces over and over. The phrase: “Buy once and buy good” is often lost due to the amount of “fast fashion” that’s available and the fact that quality overall has gone downhill with many retailers.

Let’s get something straight: I love fashion. I love everything about the changing of the season, new styles, accessories, colours etc. What I love more than fashion is clothing that wears well. I continue to become tempted with affordable options from retailers that are not well known for quality (who will remain unnamed). This causes me to re-evaluate my wardrobe every season with regret more often than not.

I’ve started pivoting to retailers who have higher price points but stand by their quality and policy has become my M.O.
