5 Ways to Beat Instagram’s New Algorithm
Instagram is one of the sexiest social media platforms that exists today. With the engaging Instagram stories, live feature and provoking images — it’s the go to social media platform of choice for content creators.
As a new beauty blogger on the scene (http://www.beautyreviews.ca), I have made it my mission to learn everything about Instagram which I’ll share with you in this article.
The Instagram algorithm change that occurred this month in June 2018 has allowed small business owners and users like you to benefit. Instagram is prioritizing recent posts as many small business owners have requested in protest that their posts were not getting enough love.
Of course, these are just tips on how to beat the Instagram algothrim — not an exact science. The best way to grow and engage is by being authentic and organic. Create great content, be consistent and engage with your followers. However, if you’re looking for some insight as to how to get to the top, continue reading.
Here are 5 tips on how to beat the new Instagram Algorithm:
1. Timing is Still EVERYTHING
Throughout all of my research, I have read that if you don’t have your phone lighting up in the first 60 mins of posting a photo, it’s pretty much dead. You’ll want to make it to the explore page where many users who aren’t following could potentially see your content. And by many, I mean millions. A simple post could gain you thousands of followers in a day.
2. You need to go live
Instagram values high engagement. Meaning: You need to use every single outlet available to you — including the live feature. This can be intimidating to new Instagram accounts because you’re really exposed. You need to use Live in addition to 7–21 Instagram stories and beautiful photos! Seems like a lot of work doesn’t it?
3. Comment and Engage with Similar Accounts
Make it your mission to set aside 30–60 mins every day to comment on or like photos of accounts that are a part of your niche. You’re likely to get more followers this way. After you do this, then you can post your content and your new friends will come running.
4. Relationships
You should be growing relationships with similar accounts. This can be a tag, like or comment on a post. Your business should be engaging with bigger accounts so Instagram can see that you’ve got a similar backing. This is similar to backlinks with Google. Google trusts reputable sites and Instagram is no different.
5. Frequency
In order for an image to be engaging — you need to be consistent. Instagram loves engagement and now that it will focus more on a chronological order, you’ll need to ensure you’re at the top. The best bet is to post daily no matter what.
There you have 5 tips on how to beat the new Instagram Algorithm. Again, these are just tips that I continue to use every day and have not yet gone viral.
